The snow came just in time for our yearly treck to the Red Flannel Tree Farm in Cedar Springs to cut down our Christmas Tree.

Anna not quite sure about the horses pulling our sleigh out to the fields...

We go all the way back in the woods, past the swamps, to get a Balsam Fir tree. The farm doesn't have many of the big ones left (most people want Douglas Firs these days), so it's almost like having our own private tree crop to choose from every year! We've already picked out next years' tree too :-)

Waiting for the sleigh to come back and get us. They always forget us way out there, and we usually end up walking about half way back before meeting up with the sleigh.

Last year after Christmas, we order matching PJs for the kids and Jeff and I to wear this year for Christmas morning. Judi ended up ordering them for her and Rick, as well as Jeff's brothers Andrew and Jordan as well. So, at Thanksgiving, we all put them on for a Christmas card picture :-)

Louisville Slugger Factory

On our drive to Disney, we stopped in KY at the Louisville Slugger baseball bat factory. The kids had a great time seeing how bats are made...

Jeff got to use one of David Ortiz's bats that was used to hit one of the home runs in the playoffs that eventually lead to the Red Sox breaking the curse!

Chessie needed a haircut to help correct her "Beauty Shop by Anna" induced bangs. After all of the hair issues we've had with Anna, I have to say I've held off cutting Chessie's hair as long as possible, but it was finally time... She was worried though, and so she sat on dad's lap for the haircut.

Brady in his "bucket bath". Even at 1, he still screams the entire time through his bath. I looked it up online and some children have a very strong fear of drowning. So, we've started bathing him in a 5 gallon bucket instead, to help him feel more secure. He still cries quite a bit, but it is no longer the ear piercing scream it used to be!

Meg swam this year for the Kentwood Predators Swim Team. This was her first year of competive swimming (4 nights a week at the pool), but she did an awesome job! Her 2 specialities were backstroke and freestyle

So last week for spirit week, Meg had to do "blast from the past" day. She said she wanted to dress up in something REALLY OLD, like "from the 80s, or cavemen, or something". Apparantly the 80s and cavemen are only a slight time period apart in her mind! Anyway, here was her outfit- oversized shirt knotted on the hip, stretch pants, and side ponytail. Anyone remember dressing this way for school? (you know, way back with the cavemen?!)

We are proud to welcome Broderick Jefferson Richard Fanco into the world! Brady was born this morning at 8:19 AM, weighing in at 9 pounds even, and measuring 21 1/2 inches long. He has a full head of dark hair and brown eyes, and didn't even cry when he got his shots and blood drawn! He's a very content little man :-)

The funny thing about this picture- it was taken when they came in and told me I needed to push b/c his head was almost out! Notice I'm smiling... that's b/c my first epidural and my second one didn't work, so they gave me a spinal. Thus, though I was fully dialated and his head was partially out, I couldn't feel a THING!

Baby Name Hints

Remember first, that all of our kids have 3 syllable European names (associated with royalty or nobility), and a 2 syllable nick name (if you call Meg, Meggie).

We are having a boy.

None of our kids' names are in the top 100 names on the national social security index rankings

Hint #1- His name would fit in perfectly with the names of my family members growing up (applies to both the full name and his nickname)

I needed a new picture of Teddy to drop off when I took him for auditions for a commercial recently. This was one of the ones I snapped in the front yard.

Meg recently had her Grand Prix race at AWANA. Her car is the pink, green, and white on in the middle (her friend Lyric is standing next to her- hers is the school bus). Meg finished solidly in the middle of the pack, which we were pretty proud of considering it was her first time ever making a car :-)

I've been blessed with another smiling, happy child!

Looking like a mix between Meg and Teddy, Chessie still has some features that distinguish her from the other kids, including blue eyes (the other 3 were born with brown) and red hair!

This is a picture of the house that we want to buy!!! It's currently in forclosure and would be the same house payment as our current house, but almost 3 times the size! Our current house is officially now too small for 4 kids and a dog, so we're in the process of getting it on the market. If it sells quick enough, this is the house we'll be putting an offer on :-)

Did you know that the cardboard box was recently inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame? I'm not at all surprised- my kids always have a great time with boxes! In this one they were imagining that they were on a train and it was going to crash over the side of a mountain (the stairs). He is singing and dancing to "The Tower of Power" (some of the words are: the tower of power is very tall, and up at the top is the key (the key), I'll find it and grab it and keep it and have it, just for you and me)- just so you can understand what he's saying :-P

4th Grade Recorder Concert

Meg had her 4th grade recorder concert the other night. They do "recorder karate" where each song level of difficulty is assigned a belt color. For each new song that they master, they move up to the next "belt" (a colored pipecleaner wrapped around the bottom of their recorder). Margaret was one of the only 5 kids in the 4th grade to make it all the way to black belt (which was playing Amazing Grace). We are so proud of her!!

Anna decided that she wanted to be a baby too (this has unfortunately been an issue with her wanting to wear diapers again too :-( ), so she put the travel swing next to Chessie's cradle swing and they enjoyed swinging together :-).

Teddy enjoyed hanging out with Uncle Andrew this past weekend :-). It's been a busy couple weeks for the kids in terms of family visits, and they have loved spending so much time with their grandparents and many of their uncles (the only ones they haven't gotten to see recently are my brother Ben and his wife Jen and my brother Brian and his wife Kim). It really makes me wish that we lived closer to our extended families- the kids have so much fun with them :-). It will be really nice for them next year when my youngest brother Bradley come out to West Michigan to attend Cornerstone University!
