Here are the rest of the construction pictures. Once we had the hole dug and the wall cut, it was our responsibility to knock the approx 800 pound slab out of the wall, chisel it to fit the size of the window, frame the window, install it, and then do the retaining wall. We ended up getting a really good deal on having the retaining wall/ window well professionally done, so we went with that option. The rest, Jeff and I did :-). It is SOOOO nice to have a big window in the basement now! And the best part is, now Jeff can start framing the basement with the studs we've had sitting in our garage for a year :-P
Removing the old, small window from the basement after the wall was cut.
The nice hole in the wall after the original window was removed. You can see the size of the cut slab which was left in place for us to remove.
After Jeff and I pushed the slab out of the wall and into the hole (Jeff is standing on it in the picture- the landscaping company that did the retaining wall hauled it out for us).

Yay! The window fits into the frame!
Installing the framing into the hole in the wall with silicone and powergrab. After that, Jeff had to screw it into place by drilling through the concrete on all 4 sides. That step alone took about an hour!
HORRAY! A beautiful new window for the basement!
The most important thing... the little bubble shows us that the window is level :-)
